JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located in the Assessments/Tech Library/Metcal Division (Code 210), Engineering Department (Code 200), Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC), Mayport, Florida.  This office is responsible for managing and coordinating major fleet assessment programs by providing support to Maintenance Teams (MTs), CLASSRONS, NAVLOGCEN, NAVSEA 04, CNSF, ships and SERMC engineering and technical support experts in a variety of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E), Combat Systems and Electronics (C5I) technical and administrative fields.  The incumbent’s primary role is in the capacity of Assessment Director (AD) for Combat Systems, Command, Control, Communications and Computer Readiness Assessment (C5RA), Integrated Class Maintenance Program (ICMP), Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), Total Ship Readiness Assessment (TSRA) programs.  The incumbent must possess a strong technical background in Hull Mechanical & Electrical, Combat Systems, and Electronics equipment including various combat and shipboard engineering and auxiliary support systems on surface ships.

·         Directing organizational resources to meet the goals and objectives of program sponsor and operating procedures.

·         Applying engineering, assessment, and maintenance methodology to provide corrective action guidance for deficiencies encountered during shipboard equipment and systems inspections.

·         Analyzing the design, maintenance, safety, and operation of shipboard equipment and systems to ensure they are in compliance with Navy standards.

·         Identifying assessment procedures for shipboard equipment and systems.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

 

·         applying concepts, practices, and techniques of multiple engineering disciplines with special emphasis on shipboard equipment and systems

·         conducting studies of technical plans and specifications concerning shipboard equipment and systems maintenance procedures

·         conducting inspections of shipboard equipment and systems to identify problems and recommend improvements.

REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
