BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

GS-4: Must have at least six months of general experience that demonstrates an ability to learn and perform nursing care duties, to deal successfully with people, and to be adaptable to the work situation an have six months of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-03 grade level in the federal service performing non-professional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home or other medical patient care facility, or as a home health aid. Examples of non-professional nursing care work include: 1) performing personal nursing care duties; 2) support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures; 3) caring for mentally ill patients; 4) assisting surgeons or registered nurses in operating room activities.
GS-5: Must have (1) one or more years of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-04 grade level in the federal service performing non-professional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other medical patient care facility, or as a home health aid. Examples of non-professional nursing care work include: 1) performing personal nursing care duties; 2) support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures; 3) caring for mentally ill patients; 4) assisting surgeons or registered nurses in operating room activities.
English Language Proficiency: Psychologists must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with Title 38, United States Code (38 U.S.C.).
Education Requirements:
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Substitution of Education for Experience: Certain types of education may be substituted for experience. Applicants substituting education for experience should submit a school transcript.
GS-4: Must have completed a two year nursing degree program from an accredited community college, junior college, college or university.
GS-5: Must have completed four years of education above the high school level at an accredited college or university, and have obtained a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field (one academic year of education is 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours).
