JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position: Fort Bragg, NC: Fort Bragg is 2 hours from the beach and 5 hours from the Appalachian Mountains with easy access to I-95 and all points north and south. This central North Carolina location enjoys seasonably palatable weather year-round. Many facilities and services are offered such as first class golfing venues and renowned universities, a skeet range, riding stables, ice skating rink, state-of-the-art fitness centers, daycare, star-quality dining, full service banking, convenience shop, barbershop, & florist.

You will serve as a Clinical Psychologist making mental health diagnosis as appropriate in accordance with DSM-IV-TR criteria, or other, more current, accepted standards. Provide individual and group therapy using  a range of appropriate diagnostic psychological tests, inventories, and assessment instruments to make the determination of psychosocial factors associated with health altering behaviors/attitudes and beliefs, psychological aspects of disease management, and psychological capacity for response to interventions/ rehabilitation procedures as well as identification of basic cognitive functioning, personality traits, and coping skills identification. Assess and provide crisis intervention for individuals and families undergoing unusual medically related stresses. Conducts psychologically focused training to patients with traumatic brain injury, wounded warriors and other patients to overcome physical and emotional handicaps after trauma, debilitating medical condition, or use of prosthetic devices. Other intervention skills may include capacity to brief interventions for mastery of anxiety and depression interfering with adherence to medical treatment. Maintains accurate and current notes in the department's patient chart and participates in related quality assurance activities. Provide psychological and clinical consultation to other professionals and paraprofessionals through established consultation channels.

Minimum Qualifications: Required education, Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications applicants must also meet the following:

 

Specialized Experience: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-12) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience which includes developing treatment plans for patients with neuropsychological conditions; providing therapy for patients with variety of neuropsychological dysfunctions; and applying professional psychological theories and assessment methods to a variety of patient populations.
 

Selective Placement Factor: The Clinical Psychologist position requires a active, current, valid, unrestricted independent licensure as Clinical Psychologist in a State, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States.

 

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
Skill in conducting Neuropsychological evaluations 
Knowledge of Psychological disorders and treatment

Ability to provide Psychological professional consultation
